Chapter Synopsis
The chapter opens with discussions of Vin Chen's mission and the favoritism he seems to receive, particularly as the son of Sarvana Mipley. Shortly after, news of Tillovan Adenca's apparent suicide reaches the family, however, the patriarch and others recognize inconsistencies in the scene and the body. The protagonist, Vin Chen, is called in and using his unusual senses, discovers the corpse is a fake. It’s revealed the elder may be using a dark art to stage his death and flee.
