After losing his weapon, the protagonist discovers a new side quest: collecting sincere gratitude to unlock new weapons and items. He attempts to obtain this gratitude from his friend, which proves difficult because of the sincerity requirement. Frustrated with the lack of progress, he decides to take a job as a relief teacher and manipulate students into saying "Thank you" at the start of class, though this yields no sincere gratitude. He then exchanges one piece of gratitude for a potent healing item.
